Tribal Court Development – Fundamental Considerations for Court Professionals (Court Planning Team)

Offered by the National Judicial College, this course takes a fundamental look at court functions for the personnel involved in day-to-day tribal court development. Areas that will be addressed include policy manual development; court management systems; funding sources for courts; record retention; code development; policy considerations; development of court forms; probation services development; culturally appropriate court practices; restorative justice and how and why to consider specialty courts like domestic violence court, or family court. The judge should be a member of any team that attends.
