OJJDP Drug Treatment Courts Program

The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems2 or cooccurring mental health disorders, including histories of trauma. OJJDP expects successful applicants to develop and implement a sustainability plan during the grant period to continue operation of the drug court when the grant ends.
The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local governments, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing or implement new family and juvenile drug treatment courts to provide services for individuals with substance abuse problems, specifically those related to opioid abuse or co-occurring mental health disorders who are involved in the court.
