Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training

A special invitation is extended to you to participate as a workshop presenter at the 5th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training. Workshop presentations for this training should demonstrate methods and strategies to plan, implement and/or improve Healing to Wellness Courts, including through cooperation and collaboration between tribal, federal, state and private entities in American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
It is anticipated that the training will include approximately 150-200 participants and that there will be approximately 15 workshops. Workshops are 75 minutes and should be highly interactive and relevant to the training goals and audience described above. Speaker fees will not be paid to workshop presenters. We may be able to provide limited support by providing limited lodging or travel if speakers request scholarships.
This training is intended to provide advanced-level training to Healing to Wellness Courts that are already in operation. However, we will be inviting all tribes, regardless of their Healing to Wellness Court operational status or experience.
We are seeking presentation proposals for all Healing to Wellness Court training topics, including best practices, treatment, mental health issues, assessment and evaluation, case management, sustainability, and any creative topic that you are willing to share with the Healing to Wellness Court community.
Please be aware that because this is a limited training with only 10-15 workshop slots, not all presentation proposals will be accepted. Due May 15, 2016.
Target Audience
The target audience is Tribal Healing to Wellness Court team members, including judges, prosecutors, defense counsel, treatment providers, probation/corrections officers, law enforcement, court personnel, traditional healers, tribal elders, behavioral health, grant writers, as well as tribal leadership, state partners, and all other persons interested in implementing and enhancing Healing to Wellness Courts in their Native communities.

- Presentation demonstrates expertise in working with Native American communities. (Presenters with limited expertise are strongly encouraged to collaborate with a co-presenter who has Indian Country expertise.)
- Presenters demonstrate expertise in working with Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts and/or state Drug Courts.
- Encourages interdisciplinary coordination and cooperation
- Highlights promising practices
- Introduces innovative strategies
- Comports with National Best Practices and Drug Court Standards
