Attendees enjoyed a successful training in Albuquerque, NM. Day One served as a pre-conference Topics covered the Tribal 10 Key Components, entry, screening and assessment, sanctions and incentives, juvenile Healing to Wellness Courts, and concluding with presentations from the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and the Kenaitze Tribe on joint jurisdiction courts they are pursuing with their neighboring state partners.
The second and third day kicked up gears, with topics ranging from pharmacology to new bench cards for Healing to Wellness Court Judges. Brand new presentations covered confidentiality within Wellness Courts, and the rising legal ambiguities of marijuana, peyote, and Adderall.
The conference concluded with a session on Healing the Healers, returning to attendees to the importance of culture, and acknowledging that this work can sometimes by trying and tiring.
